How it works

Importance of Career Counselling

Due to the vast number of available courses today student community faces considerable confusion with regard to choice of courses that would lead them to successful careers. If a student chooses wrong courses and lands in a profession, which does not match his personality or interests, then he/she may end up as a poor performer and with no job satisfaction. Students are under huge emotional stress in selecting courses, due to pressure from parents, peer groups and the society - such as Engineering and Medicine. Career Choices made under such pressure will lead to taking up courses/careers that one may not eventually find interesting, absorbing and satisfying. Students have to make career choice when students enter the 11th grade. At this difficult juncture, Spandan comes to the aid of students and guides them to choose the right career path.

How Spandan helps Students?

Spandan understands that interests and personalities of every student are different, and no similar career path can take different individuals to a satisfying career and personal growth. For starting a journey towards a career on one's choice, it is thus imperative that students choose the correct courses. Spandan helps the students in their quest to align their interests with their career goals , but helping them identify courses, which will take them to a prosperous career. Additionally, Spandan abreast students with the various All-Indian and State Level examinations which need to be undertaken by them, as a starting step towards better future.

History

Conception

Spandan has been working in various rural areas of in Uttar Pradesh and Haryana for more then 5 years now. Our first activities started in May 2006. It was conceptualised around two years before that.

Motivation

The founders and volunteers of Spandan hail from the areas of its operations. They have first-hand experience of the problems faced by students of these areas. And hence thought about guiding the students from this area.

Background of Team-members

Spandan consists of people from different walks of life. It has Engineers, Biotech Post-graduates, Maritime Graduates, IITians, Doctors, Teachers, Bankers and people from other professinal backgrounds.
